Your values shape your life or do they?
Shaping your life – what does that mean anyway?
Your values are the things that you believe are important in the way you live and work. They (should) determine your priorities, and, deep down, they’re probably the measures you use to tell if your life is turning out the way you want it to.
We develop our values, beliefs, morals, and ethics from our life experiences and the people around us. Sometimes they are not ours but what we have learned from others.
In business and personal lives how we develop, grow, and treat others will shape our success.
Life offers opportunities and you can either embrace them or refuse them. It is your choice….
Your values shape your life and sometimes our values can get in the way too. What are your values and how do they shape your life and the lives of the people around you? Have you revisited your values recently? Do you even know what they are?
Here are some values which may resonate with you.
- Abundance
- Adventure
- Family
- Faith
- Awareness
- Honesty
- Reliable
- Balance
- Health
- Confidence
- Trust
- Determination
You get where I am going with this, we make a list of values that are important to our lifestyle and belief systems, and most of the time we live by them. BUT…. what if some of your values stop you from living your life to the fullest?
- Fear
- mistrust
- disbelief
- Ethics
- Expectation
- Finance
- Imagination
These values can stop us from enjoying our lives, being spontaneous, and dreading opportunities.
Spontaneity can be recovered and nurtured with baby steps. You never know what good might come out of grabbing onto opportunities as they arise.
Make a list of your values and see how many are positive and how many of them are negative.
Expect the unexpected!
When we live our lives in a very predictable way we are not allowing ourselves to be adventurous. You can easily expect the unexpected and if you do not like what it is and you cannot change it as it is out of your control, make peace with it. Let it go. Let go of the fear, mistrust, and disbelief. Sometimes things come along the unexpected sale with your favorite jeans, the vacation that you win in a raffle when this happens you have to adjust to the experience and make it happen. Unfortunately, the human population is striving all the time to keep up with what is going on around them in social media having opportunities pass them by to explore something other than the internet or cyberspace.
How can you live your life to the fullest, living up to your values and beliefs and still have everything you want out of your life? Firstly stop worrying, worrying spoils things in the moment and stops you looking forward to the future. Worry and fear are two of the main reasons people are not enjoying themselves.
A sense of humor is a good thing to carry around. There are so many things in the world right now that you have to look at with a sense of humor or you would go mad!!! Also looking at things from another perspective or another persons’ point of view. This helps with relieving fear, worry and becoming more spontaneous.
Do it while you can none of us are promised tomorrow so, therefore, you should look at every moment being in
the right moment for anything and everything. Take charge of your time and allow yourself to have the breaks that make life worth living. Take the vacation time from work that you will lose because you are too busy getting work stuff done, which will still be there when you get back. Do things while you can you do not want to look at your life with regrets.
Live for today, be spontaneous live life with your values and beliefs but make sure they are keeping you in good standing with enjoying life. Remember your values shape your life.
Please share this with others and I would love to hear your comments and views too.!!!
