Natural remedies for rheumatoid arthritis, is there such a thing?

Rheumatoid Arthritis is common in a lot of people and can be very painful.  It is also not only the elderly that suffer, there are young children also suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis as well.  Not something you want to live with and have a good  quality of life.Pain Free

When I lived in London where it is cold and damp a lot of the time I had pain in my hip and my wrist.  2 places I damaged as a child.  In the winter my left arm was always bandaged up and sometimes in a sling as the pain was so bad I could not use it.   I moved to Australia and spent 10 years there, I found living in a warmer climate all of my aches and pain went away.

After 10 years I went back to London again and guess what.  The pains came back. Living with RA is not pleasant.  I now live in Florida USA, very nice and warm all year round and I am very pleased to report I do not have any pain at all.   Keeping in mind I also follow what I am about to share with you.

 Brain Washing

We get told every time we have an injury when we are young that it will turn into arthritis when we get older.  Everything I have been told, when I get to a ripe old age, I should not be able to move with the amount of times I have been told my injury will turn into Rheumatoid Arthritis.:)

When we keep getting told these things we then expect this to happen and accept this fact when we do start to get reduced mobility in our joints.  Suffering with pain and limited mobility can be depressing, to say the least. This is brain washing.  We take in the information and we store it in our brains and we re-collect and then add to it and make it bigger every time.  The brain obliges us with our wishes and we then get what we focus on….PAIN!!!!

However changing the way we look at things, stressing less about the program we have been given, (that we will have rheumatoid arthritis) can change the outcome. Eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, listening to motivational sayings, surrounding yourself with positive people.    Also the most important having a positive mindset to your health and well-being.

Those of you that already have the symptoms and are suffering with  pain and the restricted movement, there is hope and there are natural remedies you can add to your regime.

The following is a list that will help

  • Ginger – anti-inflammatory
  • Tumeric – anti-inflammatory
  • Bosweilla – anti-inflammatory
  • CurcuminRemedies for Arthritis Pain
  • Stretching
  • Excercise
  • Yoga
  • Meditation
  • Positive Thinking
  • Magnesium
  • Wobenzyn

All of the above can be used together to give amazing results.  However, you have to figure out what works best for you.  What works for one person does not necessarily work for someone else.  Testing different foods, and supplements so you can add or eliminate what works for you is the best way to go.(Consult your doctor before changing or reducing any medication)

Using Epsom Salts and soaking in a bath will also help relieve the pain and release toxins.  This is an old remedy but a good one.!

Remember to also Tap into your Emotions

There is always an emotional part to all suffering and pain.  The emotions get triggered throughout your life and this can make the pain worse. Tapping into your emotions using Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) really helps release the blockages.  Makes you feel better emotionally and also helps with  pain reductions.  All this without taking any meds. 🙂  Positive mindset and tapping away the negative is a sure way to healthy mind and body.

Please remember to check with your medical practitioner before changing or reducing medications!

There is always an alternative and there is always something that will help.  Research what is best for you and work with what works for you.  You may have to change things up from time to time but that is ok.  Especially notice what triggers a flare-up.

Remember your emotions are connected to your pain so getting stressed and upset over your symptoms will make them worse not better.

    I have RA along with a few other things. I also live in AZ, and while it does help some the heat here cause some of my other illnesses to flare. I win some and lose some.

    Good to know. I live in England now, I feel the cold. Though I’m fairly young I can tell the symptoms especially in my knees. I’ll keep this in mind.

      I was brought up in England and it gets very cold and damp there. Hence why I now live in Florida 🙂 Hopefully you will not get RA but if you do you can use natural remedies to help.

      Cold does make it worse and if you live somewhere where there are long winters it can also get very depressing to be in pain for long periods of time.Thank you for sharing and helping others.

    My husband is suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis and on some days it’s really nasty. We are lucky as we live in a really great climate. Had no idea that turmeric might help with Rheumatoid Arthritis!

      Natural remedies are very effective for many pains and dis ease and if you know the right ones to take it is so more beneficial than chemical products.

    I am off to try ginger and tumeric remedies. I have always heard that they can act as healing supplements and wasn’t too sure until I read this.

      I love ginger I have it in all my recipes and also drink Ginger tea every day, in fact I have a cup right now as I am writing this 🙂

    I would Thank you so much for this article, My mother have this problem and at home we are not a big fan of medicine, so she is trying to get better with herbal things and some exercising, but the list that you listed is very helpful, I did not know that the spices are good , I will forward this post to my mother 🙂

      Excellent, yes the remedies do work as I use the every day to make sure I do not get my RA coming back. I also keep up with my acupuncture and excercise.

    Expectations are powerful. If you think you’ve been given a drug that will make you better, often that is enough to make you better. I love the things you’ve said in Brainwashing, somehow somewhere positive thinking helps. Mind and body connection is so powerful and no one can deny that.

    This is very informative. I just started drinking turmeric tea and it has done wonders to my health. It’s good to know that there are always natural remedies, I don’t like relying so much on medication and prescription drugs.

      Tumeric is such a great herb and I take it myself as a supplement every day. I will get some tea and try that as well. Always like the natural alternative especially when it comes to pain.

      Warm weather does help and so does natural remedies and warm baths. Texas is a great place to live I am told I loved it when I went for a visit.

    I’m going to forward this on to a friend of mine who lives with chronic pain and recently lost her ability to obtain medication for it. I don’t know how helpful it will be to her, but maybe she’ll find something she can use with EFT.

      Hopefully you will never have to go through it, but if you do then natural is the best way to go. RA is something a lot of people go through but it does not have to be painful and cause unhappiness. I know someone who found great relief doing Yoga also.

    Excellent article and I do hate that anyone is in pain with RA as I hear it is not at all pleasant. You do an awesome job of listing relief methods for suffering with RA including EFT Tapping which I have not seen at all unless specifically searched for on the WWW. It is good to note that , yes, mindset is also very important in the subject of managing pain and I feel paramount.

    It is also good to note something you do not have listed there which my wife has seen(she has been in nursing and hospice for a large number of years) for relief of RA and that is called Asea and Renu28. It is also considered homeopathic and is not a drug.

    One on my ex-work colleague’s wife had RA. She was diagnosed in her very early 20s and told that she would be in a wheelchair at 25. She is now in her 60s and so far is still very mobile.

    Like your article outlines, she did a lot of research on natural remedies including diet. And her lovely husband bought her a outdoor spa. They live in a beautiful country valley so she spend much time, daily if she could, soaking up the spa warmth and looking over the country.

    They built a yurt and she ran classes in natural treatment of RA.

    The power of positive thinking certainly came into it.

    And this totally supports your article re natural means of treating it. So well done on a very well presented post.

      Thank you so much for your feedback and I am so glad your colleagues’s wife took it upon herself to not believe she would have to suffer. Going the natural route and also haveing a positive mindset is so key to a healthy lifestyle. More people should do their own research and follow what their body is telling them.

    I just went to my doctor last week because 2 months ago I fell off my roof and landed on my knee. Long story short, it got better and then it got worse so I went in. I was totally shocked to find that I have RA in my knee. I go to the gym three times a week, and I had to basically stop doing any form of exercise, and have been swimming instead. I promised myself I would do some research to see what I could do. I already live in Texas 🙂 and actually am moving to Florida in a couple of months. So that is done! I am going to look up the list of supplements/herbs you provided and try to find something that has most, that will help. Do you use any multi vitamin type for RA?

      Living in Sunny Florida will be a great benefit, cause I live here too 🙂 Please find the supplements that work best for you but I personally use Wobenzyn and it has worked very well for myself and some of my clients and also my husband.     Hi Helen.
    This was a very interesting article.
    I didn’t realise mindset played such a big part in the management of RA.
    I’ve often thought certain falls I had as a child would lead me later to RA but it’s good to know this isn’t always the case.
    I loved the idea of a bath with Epsom salts.
    Sometimes relief doesn’t have to be complicated.

      Epsom salts works great, you have to work out what your triggers are and then work on them. Remembering that what your self talk is will be what you become.

    Hi Helen!

    Thank you for creating a page that focuses on what you CAN do mentally and emotionally to help combat some of those physical symptoms that result as a physical ailment or sometheing else. Some people think they just have been cursed with getting the short end of the stick and give up there.
    I am a personal advocate for natural remedies – I take turmuric as a supplement as a natural anti-inflammatory to help with my depression/anxiety.
    Great ideas. I will continue to share this knowlegde

      Thank you for your comments and I am so pleased you take natural remedies. We started off as humans taking plants and flowers for remedies and then along the way we got enticed with the chemical pills. Getting back to nature is so much better for our bodies and mind.
