What does that mean exactly?  We go about our lives doing most things unconsciously not realizing exactly the effects this is having on our minds and body. When we become mindful of our actions and words we then change to a more positive and healthy lifestyle.

Our self-talk can be very destructive to our minds and the health of our bodies.  We can make ourselves emotionally unbalanced with our self-talk when it is continuous and negative.

We need to have positive thoughts, positive self-talk and we can achieve this through reading, listening, and watching positive experiences.  Also surrounding ourselves with positive influences.  Positive people a must. How to I get Healthy 2017

What we put on our body and in our body has a bearing on how our mind and body react.  The more chemicals we ingest or put on our body the more toxins our body has to deal with.  This includes but is not limited to shampoo, skin care, body wash, vitamins, minerals, processed foods, natural foods, fresh foods, fast foods.

Natural is always best.

As much as possible you should eat, drink and wear natural products. Our minds and bodies cope better with products and foods that are as near to our own PH as possible.  Our kidneys, liver, and stomach handle natural so much better than processed foods.   Applying natural and organic oils and lotions to your hair and body are also helpful for those organs.   Not many people realize that your skin is the biggest organ we have and it absorbs everything you expose it to.

Our skin is indeed the largest organ. Thanks for the reminder! One minute I start eating well and then I get tangled up in that busy life and eat whatever I lay my hands on. I think that’s where mindfulness comes in for me. I have been attending yoga and meditation classes so that I can be more aware of the present moment. thanks for this great post!

A lot of comments here. Great article. I have been attempting mindfulness in certain areas of my life. I appreciate the reminder because I forget. I go through the day sometimes and talk negatively to myself as well. It’s difficult when everything you see is so negative, but God is good. That is about all I can see that is good sometimes, but I keep pressing forward. Thanks for the encouragement.

Being negative seems to be the default everyone goes to and turning your self talk and your attitude to a positive can be challenging for many. This is why we live is such a stressful world all the time.

I could not agree with you more. I notice a difference not only in my body but my environment when I allow negative self talk to occur. Being able to change it is a process and will take time. One thing I find helpful is gratitude, listing a few things everyday that I am grateful for. This is a great article to remind of the connection we may have lost along the way. Thank you.

Being grateful is always a good way as you said. Sometimes we forget to realize we always have something to be grateful about.

Loved this! I am all about self talk and refusing to let that Negative Nellie get a hold of you. I also loved the part about mindful living. The whole world seems to live on auto pilot sometimes. If you truly start to make decisions, choices and push towards a direction and guide your life, rather than letting life take you where it pleases, what a difference. Not to mention all the other factors. Great, great ideas. Thanks!

So glad you liked the post. Self talk can either destroy us or uplift us, being mindful of our self talk and correcting it takes practice but once achieved has amazing health benefits.

I totally agree with you about eating natural real food. I have found since I have been living a healthy lifestyle where I only eat real, unprocessed food, I have noticed many health benefits. But I also find that it isn’t just my body that feels good. It is my mind as well. I just feel like I have a clear head with a clearer outlook.

Yes so true, eating healthy does help keep the brain clear as well as the body. I am pleased that you found this out for yourself and know how your body works. Thanks for your comments.

    Hi Helen,

Great article! Your “How can we achieve balance in mind and body?” list made me made me think back to when I was in college, simultaneously going for two completely separate bachelor’s degrees and working seven part-time jobs… Rather, it made me think of what I should have been doing! A few months after I graduated, my body was so unbalanced in every possible way it could have been. The only good decision I had made by that time was to stop drinking soda and reduce sugar in general.

Fast forward to now… while not everything I eat is organic and unprocessed, I pay way more attention to the healthiness of what I put in and on my body. Now I take time to relax. Now I am aware of the positive and negative energy around me.

    And life is way better!

Again, really great article, Helen! 🙂

You really need to have a plan in mind and stick to it to achieve balance. Once you take your eye off the ball and start doing what you want rather than what you need, that balance starts to go pear-shaped. It’s a lifestyle choice and these choices can be very hard to commit to. Losing weight, for example, is a health-based lifestyle choice. That choice may or may not be easy to stick to in the short term but it can be tough in the long term. And when people fall off the wagon, the weight goes back on. Other aspects of life require equal commitment and fortitude. Everything in moderation is a good plan to adhere to. 🙂

What a great article! I really found this read very informative, I’ve never taken into account of what I ingest and put on my body. I didn’t know that these things can really affect our balance of our body and mind. One way I keep my body and mind balanced is by thinking that there is always a positive outcome to something happening. Going natural as much as possible is a very great way to keep yourself up and running as you really just have less to deal with. Anyways, great read!

Thank you. Most people to do not realize the effects of what goes on your body is just as important as what goes in your body. Trying through my posts to bring awareness for true balance.

    Hi Helen

I couldn’t agree more! Very interesting and relevant especially in today’s fast food society. I agree with you 100% the more natural and organic products we use the better we feel. Your list is very interesting, though I do find the “stress free relationships” a challenge 😉

    Many thanks

    • helenvella

Thank you, stress free relationships are a challenge depending on the type of relationship you have with the person. Being in balance with yourself helps. Always start with YOU as you are the only person you have any control over.

These are some great tips Helen. I agree and try to eat as many whole foods as possible. It is almost like the grocery stores make it harder to eat this way these days! I also try to meditate to keep my mind balanced with my body which is easier said than done. I work with family so that is usually my biggest struggle, mind balance.

    • helenvella

I agree some stores do make it a challenge to buy healthy foods. They are getting better though. Family is always a struggle, I am sure meditation amongst other things will help you.

Hello Helen some time ago I thought that people were too crazy into all this “healthy” products and being attentive of what they eat,or which products they use, but when I become pregnant I start following these too and I felt much more better and in balance with nature 🙂 Thanks for sharing

You are welcome. Yes when we have to look after another human being who depends on us for their health and wellbeing it certainly changes our view about what we eat and drink. So glad you are taking the natural way.
